This section has been created to assist the TO’s who have been assigned to a World Triathlon Winter Triathlon Event. (Section 18 World Triathlon Competition Rules – Section 4 EOM) All duties outlined in the previous sections of this document is generally applicable but from a Winter event perspective. We will give Chief Swim an event off with this one… Some specific items are of note:
26.1 Pre-Event p. 44
Function Activity Chief Registration and/or Chief Transition
- Athletes are allowed to check-in 3 skis and 4 poles. Chief Bike Check and/or Chief Transition
- Tires must be checked for:
- Diameter – 26” to 29”
- Cross Section – 1.5”
- Spikes <5mm Chief Transition
- Ensure carpet and littering zone is in position at the exit of the transition for the athletes to place their skis and remove their shoe covers. Chief Ski
- Confirm if snowmobile access / use will be available for course inspection etc Chief Finish or Chief Technology
- Ensure that, beyond the photo finish camera, a camera filming the finish chute is functioning and recording the action when double poling is made mandatory on the finish chute.
26.2 Event p. 44
Function Activity Chief Bike
- Athlete own tools or tools supplied at Repair Zone used on bike segment Chief Finish
- Finish TO’s must check skis to ensure rule compliance, same as ones started with or changed
26.3 Post Event p. 44
Function Activity Chief Finish
- Ask the athletes to leave the finish area as soon as possible to avoid congestion and not to remove their skis until at least 10m past the finish line
- Ensure athletes warmth
